Book Review: Divergent

I recently finished this book and I can honestly say that I'm glad I purchased it :) For the people who don't know, Divergent is the first book of three in the series by Veronica Roth. There is also a movie coming out March 2014. I purchased the Ebook because I have a Kindle Fire HD, the Ebook version was $3.99, the Hardcover is $10.17, Paperback is $5.49, and Audible is $10.99 or free with a 30 day free trial (these prices are based off of Amazon).

Here is the description of the book: In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

My review: I heard so many people talking about this book and how a great read it was so like I said earlier I decided to purchase it. From the first chapter I wasn't able to put the book down, that's how good it was of capturing the reader and not letting them put the book down. It has action, romance, and even sad moments. I had to finish the book and I finally did in time for the movie next month. Books are always better than the movie but I'm hoping the movie doesn't let me down. If you haven't read the book yet I highly recommend reading it even if it's to late, you won't be disappointed.

Here are the other two books in the series:
